Amazing accumulator cashout bet stories

Posted on 28 March 201817 August 2020 by Dutch

Despite contrary belief, the bookmakers love the longshot winners. And they usually advertise their “losses” because it’s the best advertisement possible. After each unlikely win where punter strikes a 5 or a 6 figure win, the number of this long-shot bets spikes up and in the big picture, the bookmakers come on top. That’s why they offer bonus offers and codes in the first place, so that they can entice more people to try out their luck and skills. But occasionally, a lucky punter hits them for more than they care to lose and those stories found their way to our story here. These wins are impressive not because the amount won, but because the amount staked as well. Check out these amazing stories.

50p to £1million in a bizarre accumulator

Fred Craggs had one of the most astounding wins back in 2008. This win for multitudes of reasons. First, the accumulated odds were 2,000,000 to 1. You would have to struggle to even create a bet with those odds. The second thing is that the races he wagered on were being held in Wolverhampton, Sandown, and Dubai. Three different places. And just as a cherry on top, there is a detail that shows how this bet was simply bound to win. The names of some of the horses Fred placed his bet on were A Dream Come True, Isn’t That Lucky, and Racer Forever. Well, this win should last him a long time, if not forever.

Cashed out for £223,000 minutes before the shocking turn

Many bookmakers allow you to cashout your bet before the end of the events, which saves them money and protects the player as well. Pretty beneficial for both sides, but for one lucky punter, a life-changing option. Unidentified punter struck pure gold this past Boxing day when he cashed out a bet on Betfair for almost a quarter of a million. A late goal from Giroud made his ticked valid as he was winning all 19 of his picks that day, with the 2 last ones on schedule for tomorrow. The potential win was a bit over £1.2 million, but he decided to cashout for the offered amount. Well, what a cashout it was! Just a couple of minutes later, Wycombe equalized against Plymouth Argyle turning his ticked from a winner to a loser. Sometimes, a bird in the hand really is worth two in the bush. Or shall we say £223,000 birds?

Beating the odds – twice

Back in 1999, an unnamed Man. United fan won close to £160,000 from a £2.50 accumulator which culminated with the United’s win in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich. A pretty impressive win on its own. But that wasn’t enough for this mystery man and he continued to place similar bets and got lucky, again. But this time, he beat 1,666,666 to one odds on a 30p bet and netted a cool half a million pounds. Strangely enough, that bet culminated with the Bayern Munchen winning the title in 2013. Should we all start copying his betting slips?
